Our FAQ’s about Secondary Glazing & Listed Buildings
Can Clearview Secondary Glazing be fitted to my Listed property?
Yes, clearview secondary glazing is a completely reversible installation that does not affect the fabric of the building, it is comparable to hanging blinds or curtains. We would always advise that you should communicate your plans with your conservation officer.
My windows are very out of square, can secondary glazing be installed in this situation.
Yes, Clearview secondary glazing features a timber sub-frame which can be adjusted and with the application of a scribed finishing trim can be blended into virtually any situation.
Can I just change the glass in the existing windows with slim double glazed units?
We would not advise or recommend this, it would normally not be acceptable to your consideration officer, and can affect the appearance of the windows, as modern glass does not have the same imperfections and character appearance. The slim double glazing does not provide a particularly affective thermal break so the performance is generally poor. The sealed units can fail which caused trapped condensation and fogging. Also much of the heat loss can be from around the casements rather than through the glass, so the draught and cold can still pour in.
